Making Jewelry In a Van

Our way of life definitely keeps us busy. But during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, at the beginning of 2020, there was no traveling, no hiking, and no socializing. We went a little stir-crazy. We decided to make some bead bracelets as gifts for some friends and family. They came out pretty nice and it kept us busy.

Since then, we’ve learned a lot more more from friends, from YouTube, and from several (very dangerous) bead shops we’ve encountered. Inspired by our connections to the trail, the outdoors and nature, we’re trying to be more creative and make more interesting pieces to share… and maybe sell.

As a first step, we’ve set up an Etsy shop, “VanDeliciousDesigns,” to display our work. Then, as we travel across the country, hiking our trails, we hope to offer our goods for sale at campgrounds and vanlife/hiking events.

We’ll see how it goes. Wish us luck!

  • Shiva Lingam Pendant
We found these beautiful mini Shiva lingam stones at our favorite bead shop in Little Rock, AK. They sat around in our supply box for some months before we figured out how we wanted to turn them into some really cool boho necklaces.
  • Olive Snail Necklace
We found these olive snail shells (empty, not alive) on Florida’s northeast beaches. Then we decided to turn them into pendants, hand-wrapped with silver craft wire and hung on a simple adjustable leather cord.
  • Boho Earrings
I love to wear earrings, so it’s no wonder that I like to make them too.
  • Grapevine Bracelet
The Japanese glass beads by Miyuki of Japan are special and just pop! Wear it anywhere and it will be sure to get attention.
